AISHA HAMMAN
FOUNDER & CEO
Aisha Hamman is a Nigerian lawyer and a dedicated advocate for justice, empowerment, and human rights. She is the Founder and Executive Director of the Lift Africa Foundation, advancing justice, gender equality, and empowerment across Nigeria.
Guided by her belief in justice and equity, Aisha has led initiatives that have supported over 5,000 women and girls, reintegrated more than 3,000 out-of-school children into classrooms, and secured 86 convictions in gender-based violence and human rights abuse cases across Northern Nigeria.
Under her leadership, Lift Africa Foundation spearheaded the campaign that produced the Harmonized VAPP Law of Kano State and continues to advocate for its domestication across other northern Nigerian states. Her work bridges law, governance, and social development — ensuring that justice systems work for the most vulnerable.
Aisha is recognized as a Global Champion for Ending Violence by the End Violence Partnership, a Resolution Fellow honored for her lifelong dedication to social impact, and a Human Rights Champion (Education Rights Category) at the Nigerian Human Rights Conference. She has also been recognized as an Impact Maker by the European Union and nominated for The Future Awards Africa Prize for Advocacy and Activism (2025).
She has represented civil society voices at major international forums, including the United Nations ECOSOC Youth Forum, the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), and various World Bank and global development platforms.
Her advocacy focuses on promoting access to justice, empowering women and youth, and driving institutional reforms that protect human dignity and advance sustainable development.
She is passionate about justice accessibility, gender equality, and institutional reform that protects human dignity.
